pattern-based hardtrance supersaw

Post by MadGonzo »

I have a serious problem with my supersaw making
I use the step sequencer to make it happen
ill provide an example if and if not i can make it work
but as for the problem:
the step sequencer lets the original sound out during the portamentoing
it breaks the sound, because right now i can hear both sounds
the original, and the gliding
might just be something strange im doing, but worth checking out
the sound is awesome ;)

sorry forgot to add the sound example:
http://fwsnet.net/mp3/primer_2.mp3
its the last part (3 parts)

comparison (a real hardtrance supersaw i made for another song):
http://fwsnet.net/mp3/Gonzo-Beatus_3.mp3
it will be insanely hard to reproduce, but it sounds awfully commercial
so in reality its a red flag :P
but its a nice sound all the same

I'm not really sure I understand what the problem is exactly, but I'm guessing that what your'e thinking of is that notes are sustained even though there's empty space between the notes in a pattern.

This is a feature really. Because otherwise it would be impossible to create sustained notes in the pattern mode. What you need to do is make the notes a little bit shorter than the full length. Do this by right dragging the mouse a little to the left (on a note). This changed the duration of a note, and makes it send a note off event.

Let me know if I misunderstood you question.

nope it didt have any effect - the original sound is still there
i guess im wishing for a wet/dry feature on something that wont support it

i think the problem is that the arping works, but the original sound comes during the in-between
so ill have to make an ADSR thingie, .. so its time to fire up the help index :P

So you're saying the portamento isn't working in the pattern module?
Please explain some more, I would really like to understand the problem so I can determine if this is a bug or a design thing. :-)

Noticed another thing though. Seems like the arp sometimes initializes wrong. It should always produce the samme pattern, but when running it will sometimes play differently. I've seen this behaviour before, but thought it was fixed for good. Looking into it now.

Thanks.

EDIT: Seems this only happens when arp is turned on.
It is not the actual pattern than runs off beat, but the arp octave.

...still interested in what you meant by that dry/wet thing though, so please explain how I reproduce it whenever you get the time. Would like to determine if this a bug or not.

Fixed.
Will be in v1.03: Bugfix: NotePattern arpeggiator could loose sync and occasionally skip octaves. Fixed.

ok heres the thing, theres two ways that would or could possibly solve this:

1. glide-only feature
only the portamento itself, is that even possible?

2. ghost notes, havent tried this, but such as zero velocity ground notes

Please clarify!? Was this bug not fixed in v1.03 or are you talking about a different issue or even feature request?
