The Gonzo bank

by MadGonzo
Various trance related stuff, and its a work in progress
some instruments have no decay and will continue forever, so use automation

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/Gonzo.rar (17.11.08)

Unofficial examples:
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/bankexample.mp3
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/angelbeat.mp3
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/vrverggrt.mp3

Angelbeat example FL8:
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/angelbeat.flp (3 different instruments, solo each)

A random selection of my waveforms:
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/Waveforms.rar
Most are roland single cycles, and theres hardly any copyright on this just like you can copyright a 256^3 RGB color
I recommend this list to be released with this synth
it will increase the useability of this synth 1x for each wave, so it should be 130 times better
Its hard enough to find these waves.. trust me :(

for example i recommend the buzzy_c2.. awesome retro sound

Thanks for sharing!

I would too, but I don't have anything worth sharing.

updated the bank.. added some commercial grade leads etc.
example: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/supersaw.mp3
(note: rendered with low amount of "voices".. i was concerving cpu)

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/ultimatewave.mp3 (by burt & mat silver)
another example i made purely from my own patches + a little tweaking

a taste of what to come.. my specialty: commercial hardtrance
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/angelbeat.mp3
i know the sound is too unfiltered, not clean etc.. i dont mind ;)
the instrument is actually hard to make
also, the bass is clicky.. couldnt be bothered to fix, sorry

what can I say...awesome stuff as usual ! :D

This bank of yours is going to be gold  8)
It already contains some killer leads!

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/basicdawn.mp3
filter attack (bandpass) glidesaw
not the best fitting song, but it clearly shows it works as intended
this is the lead ive been trying so hard to reproduce.. i just never knew how :P
the bank has been updated as well
a warning: the more complex the lead, the more automation you need

I was thinking that it's hard to import each waveform just to hear it... it could be useful to have a procedure for importing all the wavs in a folder and then select them directly on the synth, don't you think so? :)

Posted: 01 Jul 2008 21:35
by MadGonzo
thats what i told karma man, though its not really an issue as long as the additive synth can remember the last folder you imported from
i keep finding more and more waveforms so its much easier if i could just manage it myself :)

Had a go with my (new) super computer today
commercial trance example, bank of course (not updated yet)
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/commtrance.mp3
sounds clean, etc. almost too clean for my liking
should have fixed the bass so it wasnt so unpredictable and made the sublead prettier.. buuuuuuuuuut

fixed link

so
i promised retro stuff.. no delivery
instead, probably my hardest song yet :(
im using the original name, just out of respect to the maker
this song is awesome, though ive never even heard the original
it was just another midi :P
the patch bank thing has been updated with new basses and leads
(high time i tried to do some pads though)

ah well, i updated it
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/quicksilver_2.mp3

btw you can use this as patch demo, because its really showing more of what kind of instruments ive been making

Thanks, man! And it sounds great music and patch-wise :D 8) , though somehow that heavy slap back echo doesn't really do it for me... dunno, sounds out of sync or something ?

yea it does, didnt notice that before :P

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/nysang18.mp3
sneap peak of my new project, VERY WIP, and ignore vocals; just me trying out something :P
got so fed up with failing the bass that i just want it out
i also updated the bank with some unnaturally good leads
(some come in dif. versions since not everyone knows how to ...)

Posted: 23 Jul 2008 12:26
by karmafx
awesooome stuff, man.... some great leads you've made there !
...and I kind of like the vocal thing!...very subtle. 8) 8)
ps: I'll update the bank shortly...

okay, this is as far as i got
finally gave up the song, though it sounds nice at first, the broken "main part" is overshadowing a good song
other than the leads, the song is mediocre at best

Thanks man. I was about to ask if you ever did a follow up, and saw the post ....
Sounds great now! Nice transition at 0:20 btw !

So, its been awhile since i made some unique instruments etc
Bank updated, made a nice guitar bass and a modern trance lead (distort)
also made a showoff kinda thing
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/atlanta.mp3
(remix of a new song out (2008) by ferrin & low called atlanta)

edit: so it turns out im in love with this song, and im going to complement it with more instruments
should be a nice addition to the bank soon
pretty sure it could already be sold for money, but i never cared for selling
up to you though

great !!!! 8) 8) 8)
I've updated the stuff page! :D

Ok, I updated it again with some relevant instruments
im almost about to conclude my trance-related bank
of course, there will always be a new instrument etc.
but i need to move on to other types of instruments just for the sake of variety
real instruments will require a heavy waveform though, so we'll see how it goes

Re: The Gonzo bank

cleaned up and improved many patches, added 4 new/branched instrus :)

Re: The Gonzo bank

Posted: 16 Nov 2008 15:23
by MadGonzo
Added some more instrus :)

new lead, pad and some other arp-like leads

example: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/newbanktest.mp3
EDIT: uploaded new and automated example
fire & ice pad
1: usual pad + phaser feedback
2: pad + freq lfo (0:20)
(above not really good in this notation, but the trick is to know where and how)
3: pad + HFO dissonance (0:35, my favorite)
4: less paddy version
clean filter attack arp/lead with unique delay
1: clean filtered
2: distorted version at the end

Most of the time putting my instrus to use comes with clever notation and tweaking the instruments as intended
sometimes i just forget adding the knobs at the bottom
i have been less forgetful with the last instrus and many old ones have been updated

EDIT again:
added some other patches
example: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/atlanta_4.mp3
