Ok, added first release of my Consonance patch bank
I am in no way happy with the sounds there, which is why this took so long
But, should be something that could be tweaked one way or another
some are good, some aren't

example2: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/patch.mp3 (450kbps)

I also have a request:
Notice how with ie. one of the last patches if you toggle Trigger on Generator1 on and then off again the song will be phasing (it was a bug back in the day, though now if you reinit the problem goes away so its not a problem)
It's actually a cool feature, and the phasing depends on the Detune value of Unison... So please add an option to allow it! :P

EDIT: added some basses, i think :/
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/unknownst.mp3 (weirdest remix i ever made)

Nice update, MadG 8) 8) Thanks.
Would you like me to add the bank to the stuff page ?

Re: Consonance

Posted: 11 Jan 2009 23:38
by MadGonzo
Sure, 13 instrus already.. will try to finished them and add some more
but it most likely wont happen soon
im trying to up the quality from the previous one
including both tweakbuttons and overall sound
the latter bank had too much generic in it, and it was more a learning experience for me than this bank so

EDIT: ok updated
http://fwsnet.net/mp3/gonzo-hope_3.mp3 original
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/gonzo-hope_4.mp3 karmafx version

EDIT2: Ive been working on that thingie since i posted, of course
its gotten alot better, and ive added some important variations of the instrument type but im working out some sound issues :P

Re: Consonance

Posted: 14 Jan 2009 03:33
by MadGonzo
Ok, I was a little ashamed of my previous instrument attempt
Mostly because the difference between original (using V-station) and the old patch was too great, and so many instrument on the bank had flaws

Conjured up this:
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/kfx (kfx mp3=latest patch, _5 = some bank preset)
the .fsc file is a notation file for FLStudio, opened from within a piano roll (File menu) and contains notation used in these xperymentz (xyz!)

also bank updated, so it can be put on the stuff pages without me losing sleep over it :P
the thing im most happy with is how kfx really did have everything there already
for instance turning down the amount of distortion used worked for short decay parts, but not for fullblown song so i just inverse-automated a bind in kfx using envelope with negative offset
well, its not a complete instrument yet anyways, it doesnt sing as much as the original but it has the same exact sound base :)
that's something

cool. Sounds good! 8)
...and thanks for the update and the heads-up!
what description should I put next to the bank?

Re: Consonance

Posted: 15 Jan 2009 23:49
by MadGonzo
updated, added some crazy good instrus and tweaked the ones already there
should be a pretty unique sounding bank imo

put description "Unique trance leads, basses, arps and pads."

Recommended midi for testing instrus:
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/armin_van ... staina.mid
needless to say not all instrus sound good with this one, but most should

In the comment section for the sound "Strong HF lead" ive added example for how to properly use that sound
I also added an example version below it
Or my version: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/HFLeadExample.mp3

made some demo showing the dissent sound, which is the first sound i made for this bank :P
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/eternal.mp3
and a different kind, with better distortion + some new bass and generic pad
http://commandante.fwsnet.net/ffrfrr_3.mp3
same lead all the way through, just automated, best heard with headset :)

Added several variations created by karmafx :) (some were just very generic i suppose, some very nice)
and some of my own previously or newly created, some even variations of the variations :P

other than that, this is the mandatory example mp3

Re: Consonance

knob binding no#7 (0->7=8) is bugged, always resets to 0 (50%) no matter what :P happens everywhere

i rendered a demo from the new IEFL instrument patches i made (final and special version) ((though i lost the best final version i made, i managed to remake it))
but the demo is outdated by now and doesnt reflect the awesomeness of the new final sound(s) :P

thus
bank updated!

ps. the iefl sound is one of the few sounds i make that you actually have to buy for real money ;) so be appreciative instead where credit due

Re: Consonance

yes, control panel
its a bug that occurs pretty much all the time
rarely, if ever, does it not reset to 50% value

Re: Consonance

i think you can update the bank today
currently making a new bank "theme" :P so to speak
mostly because i invented a new kind of lead, and including the whole reverb shebang
so it sounds nice, i like it, which never happens
going all out on the demo

edit: and here it is

Added some unusual instruments to bank
demo: http://commandante.fwsnet.net/daylight.mp3
not really my thing, so i have no idea if it sounds good or not
its not pleasing to my ears at least :P i liked the lead

Re: Consonance

nice song !! 8) 8) 8)

Re: Consonance

Posted: 19 Feb 2009 23:59
by MadGonzo
well i couldnt really make the instruments sound that way without the high end killing my ears
ill try with some extra filtering
you should look into what combination would give better results
its a pretty cool idea for an instrument :P

Re: Consonance

Posted: 20 Feb 2009 00:28
by karmafx
Yeah...the lead sound pretty harsh, but good nontheless...maybe a little filtering and a pinch of verb will do the trick  ...also the guitar type lead in the background sounds good...what is that? :P

I'm wrapping up v.1.05 as we speak. Hope to have a test version ready tomorrow.

guitar like instru is a patch in the bank, fool :P

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/dissonnance.mp3
quite a disappointment for a top notch lead :P i guess the notation sucks
i find that half the time i almost scrap instruments they often sound good on other pieces of work

using virtual guitar + dissonance lead :)
both working good in a fitting enviroment, as i already knew
just very bad example demo last time

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/gtrgrtght ... jrtjgr.mp3
chorused lead #1, not bad if used correctly

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/ifeellove2.mp3
chorused lead #2, pretty good lead
i didnt get to automate it much, but it could use some work
generally i dont consider a lead finished until it can be:
1. extra/nonzero detune sounds awesome
2. extra amp parameters available
3. plucking mode possible
4. insane filter pass buildup

it has only 2. and 3., so its just like a generic patch :P
especially that the lead sounds ruined at higher cutoffs makes it bad

also bank updated

same old, same old, just better i guess :P cant tell anymore

http://commandante.fwsnet.net/synaesthesia_18.mp3
voice like, killing my ears because of resonance
ill try to figure out why later
its uh the feedback on the chorus but not the root cause ofc
i de-annoyified it a little with the phaser, and down volumed it

gonna move on to "softy trance" stuff now, not that i havent mixed in some now and then
i just need to complement the bank with some lush pads and leads etc.

my first, best and worst attempt at psytrance

pretty heavy beat :|

http://commandante.fwsnet/human_6.mp3
god knows i tried to make that sound good, it just didnt.. :(
no compression either :P

btw. just in case anyone wonders, i always keep my synths undetunable
just set detune to zero, and sometimes try with Trigger on for extra hit (on the generator always top-left)

edit: the kick is based off of your sine kick, except triangle, smaller freq modulation and some other stuff :P
at least i learned something from it, though the kick could be better
